Getting Started – Interior Disassembly

After removing the seats, I began removing the interior. 50 years of grime had taken its toll on the carpet.

Passenger’s side

The interior was brown, but the door panels were black.

The door panels had a tweeter speaker on the top, making it hard to operate the wing window, and a bigger speaker at the bottom.

Driver’s side

There was a visual hole through the pedal box that you could see when you were driving. I thought that would be the worst part of the rust and rot.

Windshield and headliner

The headliner was dirty, but the windshield was cracked. The windshield always leaked around the gasket – even 30 years ago when I bought the car.

The dashboard was cracked, too.

Rear seats

With the view towards the rear, you can see where the headliner was sagging, as well as the brown side panels.

The front seats were a complete mess, but the rear seat was fine.
